Week 8: Mixed Media Collage

by Jill Austen on 02/27/15

How the time flies, it's already the start of week 9! This past week I focused on mixed media collage. I love all the textures and surfaces of the materials; I love layering them, balancing the colors and shapes so that all of those disparate pieces become a whole. It is really an exercise in choice, and restraint in some cases, so that the result doesn't just look like the whole box of paper scraps was dumped out with a liberal shake of glitter. I especially liked the two more abstract works that captured some of the emotional essence of the creative process.
